March 24th + 25th marked the 2nd Yoga Teacher Training weekend of the 200-Hour program - the 2nd of 5 weekends after the requisite week-long Immersion (check out YTT weekend #1 here).
Subject: Alignment + Anatomy (part 2)
Another delightful weekend of breaking down Yoga poses in-detail + learning the unique needs of different bodies.
Kat Green returned, covering a Yogic/Indian concept of the 3 Stages of Life (stay tuned for in-depth posts about each stage!). She also talked about Prenatal Yoga + Chair Yoga, which is great for seniors, the elderly, + folks recovering from injuries (which I’ll also cover in future posts!).
For our next YTT weekend, we’ll be learning more about meditation, the Yoga Sutras, Restorative Yoga, + doing our 2nd round of teachbacks - another full 2 days of study!
This entire YTT process has been going by so fast that I haven’t had much time to sit + reflect on all that I’ve learned - other than the occasional giddy moment of, “Holy fudge, I’m going to be a full-time Yoga teacher!!” :)
On the other hand, I do have a plethora of new posts coming up, thanks to all the wonderful things I’m learning from this program - no shortage of writing inspiration!
Other To-Dos for Graduation
25 Apprenticeships: I’ve completed 9 of the required 15 apprenticeship sessions with Danielle. I also have 5 sessions with Melanie + 5 sessions with Leslie scheduled, starting next week. My last apprenticeship session will be on Monday, April 16th (yay!).
5 Hours of Karma Yoga: Now that the majority of alignment + anatomy info has been covered in YTT, I’ve begun to schedule the other 4 hours of free Yoga I still need to teach. I’ve contacted the folks who volunteered + I hope to start doing these sessions next week.
5 New Class Observations: I’ll be doing all these classes in early-to-mid May.
