May 5th + 6th marked the 4th Yoga Teacher Training weekend of the 200-Hour program - the 4th of 5 weekends after the requisite week-long Immersion (weekend #1 + weekend #2 + weekend #3).
Subject: Yoga Lifestyle + Philosophy
Another weekend gone by so fast!
On Saturday, we learned about the basics of Ayurveda, brainstormed teaching ethics with Kat Green, delved deeper into language + overall communication when teaching, + learned about basic hand mudras + their meanings.
On Sunday, we talked about the importance + wide variety of openings + closings for a Yoga class, learned about the Yoga of Action + finding our dharma (our life’s true purpose) via the Bhagavad Gita, started the 2nd written test, + performed our 2nd teachbacks.
Summary: it was a very info-filled weekend! I don’t even know where to begin writing about it all because everything was so useful + intriguing.
Not sure what our final weekend will entail, but I do know that we’ll be GRADUATING! :O In less than 4 weeks, I’ll have completed yet another to-do on my bucket list - graduating from a 200-Hour YTT program. Turns out, I loved it so much that I’ll be sticking with it + teaching full-time :)
Other To-Dos for Graduation
5 Hours of Karma Yoga: 2 hours already completed + 2 more 30-minute sessions of beach Yoga (May 10 + 21) + 1 hour with fellow YTT student Cassie (May 20) + 1 hour with fellow military spouse Sara (setting date now) = all 5 of my Karma Yoga hours! I’ll definitely have it all done before our next (+ final!) YTT session.
5 New Class Observations: Starting tomorrow with Jon Mize’s class + attending 4 other classes before the end of May (adding them all to my schedule today).
