Howdy! Thanks for sending me a message - and congrats on taking a Teacher Training Program! :D I graduate my 200-Hour program on June 3rd (started on February 3rd) + it is hard to believe it is almost over :O
I’ve been intentionally sharing a lot about my experience here on my blog. Check out any of the Yoga Teacher Training tagged posts.
Additionally, there is some straightforward advice I can give you: make sure to take care of yourself! It is so easy to get wrapped up in how much there is to learn + how exciting it all is. Make sure to drink lots of water, cook healthy meals, + make time for your Yoga practice at home + taking classes. It is so easy to get wrapped up in all the learning that you set yourself aside … but since you will be the teacher, self-care is a vital part of the job (+ learning the job!).
If you don’t mind me asking, what YTT program are you planning on taking? I noticed on your Tumblr that your hometown is Stamford, CT - do you still live there? I’ve lived in CT off & on for 10 years (and went to high school there). I’m currently in Oceanside, CA (because my husband is in the Marine Corps), but we were living in CT when he enlisted - and we lived in Stamford for a year at one point! Small world!
I’ve been practicing Yoga off + on for 11 years (my Mum introduced me to it in CT while I was still in high school), but practicing consistently for the past 3 years.
I’ve wanted to do YTT for 8 years, but couldn’t find the time/money/right place. Finally, the opportunity became available here in southern CA, so I jumped on it! I’m currently planning on taking the 500-Hour program at my current school in 2014-2015 before my husband + I move back to the East Coast.
Also, I wrote about a book about Yoga that was published in 2010: 27 Things to Know About Yoga :)
Thanks again for taking the time to contact me - and feel free to message me again anytime :)
Namaste + good luck <3
